Note: ‘The shooting in Little Mary St occurred at about 10:25 p.m. [on 5 June 1921]. A group of people were standing at the street corner when two tenders containing Auxiliary police suddenly appeared. The people at once scattered. Subsequently, some shots were fired, and a young man, Henry O’Rourke, a labourer, of Cornmarket, was killed. Geo[rge] Kearns, 127 Church St, had his left leg fractured by a bullet, and Elizabeth Gorman, 1 Mary’s Lane, who was in bed at the time, was wounded in the face, but not seriously.’ Kearns and Gorman survived their injuries.
