Note: Private Eagling was mortally wounded by a bullet in the abdomen, leading to spreading general peritonitis and death within four days at the Central Cork Military Hospital in Cork city. It is not known where or how he came to be fatally wounded. His death is not recorded on the website of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
